Mi Pobrecita

l 9f66db290294e98c6837d11c70b43572 Mi PobrecitaMy baby is sick. I mean sick. Shitting up a storm – she was quite literally covered from head to toe in shit just now. I had just given her a bath – I mean her hair was still wet. Of course, isn’t that how it always happens? Sheesh…

She vomited earlier today and [she's such a sweetheart] every time she stopped throwing up we’d ask her if she was okay and she’d nod her little head; insisting she was alright while heaving up the next batch of apple juice and egg whites.

She’s been lethargic since she awoke this morning, but unable to sleep because she’s cried so much that her nose is too stuffy to breathe through. She can’t breathe through her mouth because that would conflict with the mandatory thumb sucking. So she’s been alternating breathing through both, passing in and out of consciousness, miserably.

I’ve been miserable with her; I cannot tolerate her unhappiness. Every time she’s cried inconsolably today I’ve wanted to sob with her. She has this awful, ear-splitting, heart-wrenching cry that could make a stranger frantic – thinking she’d broken a leg or lopped off a toe.

I can’t even explain what it does to me, but it gives me physical pain to hear it, and I despair when I can’t absolve whatever is causing it. She’s usually such a simple child – if I hold her, she’s fine. A hug from mommy is always the cure – no matter what’s wrong. Not today. It’s been pure hell.

She seems to be feeling better. Maybe the projectile crap session rid her of whatever bug is ailing her. Let’s hope so. A mommy can only take so many bodily excretions before she throws in the towel.

There is no worse feeling than having the stomach bug. (Other than being the mom of someone who has it!)

I feel for you guys. Hang in there!

Don’t you love how biology makes crying physically painful for mothers to endure? That’s the same biology that give us PMS every month. Biology SUCKS.

I hope she feels better soon. Poor baby.

Poor thing, hope she gets better really soon! It’s so hard, you feel so helpless when they’re hit by these things. Wish it were just a stuffed microbe…

I hear ya girl. Sick babies are simply heart breaking and there is really nothing you can do for them. I sometimes bring the sickee into the livingroom and prop her on her stomach, to my stomach and it clears things up. And I can hear her breathing, so it helps me sleep. This coming from the mom who was sleep training @ 3 months…but when they’re sick, they’re sick.

PS. TRAVIE 4 LIFE
PPS. You rock.

@huckdoll – That’s the only way she would sleep – elevated on my chest on shoulder. Quite uncomfortable but needed. :)

Oh that poor little thing!!!

I’m so sorry she’s sick! I know how you feel. Both my girls were sick like that over the holidays. The baby was even in the ER on New Year’s Eve.

It’s heartbreaking for a mom to watch her children suffer.

Here’s hoping she gets well soon.
