The New James Dean

heath ledger 4 The New James DeanI’m horribly upset about Heath Ledger’s passing. I have been a fan of his for majority of his career; like most, I discovered him as Julia Stiles’ romantic interest in ‘10 Things I Hate About You‘. I wanted to rip my heart out during the last scene of Brokeback Mountain as Ennis took in the smell of Jack’s clothing because I felt the pain of the character so vividly.

He mesmerized me in The Patriot and traumatized me in Monster’s Ball. I laughed at him in Casanova and lusted for him in A Knight’s Tale.

He was an amazing talent and it’s sad to think of all the unrealized potential that passed along with him. I really don’t care if it was drugs, or if it was intentional – I just hope that if he did harm himself he has achieved the personal peace that eluded him. If he didn’t, I hope that it wasn’t too lonely or too painful a passing. My heart goes out to his daughter and the rest of his family.

On another note, I discovered while looking for this picture that he was uncircumcised. In case you were interested. :)

I’m deeply upset about this. I kid you not. I loved Heath Ledger and my following of him is a mimicry of yours. He was so dominant as the “bad” boy in 10 Things About You. (PS. the new bonus knowledge about his penis fashion is wonderful. I can’t explain it. but i like to know odd, random things like that!)

G’day from Australia,

I came here from caffeine court’s blog. I work in the Australian media, so you can just imagine the shock at his passing.

I felt the same way. I was SHOCKED when I read the news. The scene at the end of “Brokeback Mountain” with Jack’s shirt had me sobbing.

I also loved the scene in “10 Things I Hate About You” when he sings to Julia Styles with the high school marching band.

What a loss!

I’m so glad you have your girls back! I’m sure they’re getting lots of big bear hugs from mommy.

(Oh and by the way, ha ha you little whippersnapper! Those pre-caller ID days were tons of fun!)

He didn’t really do it for me, but I’m shocked and saddened about his death. What a waste.

Couldn’t watch broke back mountain. (Sorry.. typical male thing I know) He was a very talented actor, and I was amzazed by everything I saw him act in. So sad that he was cut down in his prime. Just imagine everything he could’ve/would’ve done. Very sad indeed.

His passing really bothered me. I think he was so incredibly talented, and it’s such an artistic loss. Not to mention that his daughter will never really know him.

James Dean is exactly what went through my mind when I heard the news. So sad! I really feel for his little girl having to grow up without her daddy.

That was, by far, one of the most lovely tributes to him that I’ve read thus far. Until I got to the part about the circumcision. Then I thought, “Ohhh… that is sooo HER! And that’s why I love you and your comments on my blog so much!” LOL… flawless post.

That was truly one of the most surprising and sad Hollywood deaths. And I have tremendously interested in his penis for years.

OMG, I totally agree! I loved him! I loved the passion he had for acting, the roles he chose, and most of all (let’s be honest) I loved to LOOK AT HIM. He’s so beautiful. Such a tragic, tragic thing. When I heard the news I told my hubby immediately and even he was upset. He was all…NO! I actually LIKED that guy!

Just goes to show you how much true beauty and talent touchs people of all walks of life.

Came to your blog via blog hoppers, btw.

Can’t say I was a big fan of his, but I am still saddened by his passing. I think of his daughter and his family. A very difficult loss with which to cope.

@Amanda – I was very surprised. And then I realized that the USA is the only country that it’s the norm to be circumcised so I shouldn’t have been surprised. And then I felt a bit like a necrophiliac for looking @ a now dead man’s penis and getting aroused. LOL.

@Momo Fali – you’re right. She never will. I wonder if that is a good or bad thing though…regarding how she will cope when she is older.

@Lunanik – My husband didn’t know him from a hole in the wall but he heard it on Howard Stern and had to tell me. He knew I’d know since I know ‘all the actors’. :D

@sarabeth – I’m not sure if I could rally consider myself a fan, but I know that I’ve always enjoyed him in his films and I was anticipating the new Batman flick even moreso because he was the Joker. So I guess I am. :)
