no stance on issues?
have you watched any debates?
what am I missing?
I’m really tiring of hearing people say that Obama can’t make up his mind. I’m really overwrought of the same thing coming out of everyone’s mouth – he has no stance on issues, no plan, no whatever. Are you serious people? I watched last night’s debate halfway with my mouth hanging open at the fact that people will use that for a reasoning not to support him. It’s. Just. False. You don’t like him – okay – so what – you don’t like him. Cool. But make sure you have a reason outside of what you heard some idiot interviewed on Fox News say. What you read in a blog or the newspaper. Research and form your own opinion. Please. If you don’t you’re probably postulating nonsense.
Hilary Clinton
so what if she’s a woman?
I won’t vote on that.
I am also sick of reading/hearing/watching women act as if it’s my province as a woman to vote for a woman. I will not vote for her if I don’t want to, regardless of the fact that we share the same type of biological reproductive organs. Why should I? Is that what we’re going to do this year? We’re going to tarnish this prodigious time in America’s history where two different sets of minority are up for the top position by basing our votes on the fact that they are minorities rather than what we see and feel of them otherwise? Honestly, if I was going just on that – I’d rather see a black man take it than a woman. Because it would shock the shit out of me. Yes, I’m one of those people that don’t believe America is ready for a black president, even more than a female one. I would love it. It’s my heritage. I feel more inclined to asseverate on that being glorified than the fact that I have a vagina. Maybe it’s just me.
whichever one wins
the nomination is good
i will support them
Regardless of those things, as I’m pretty sure they’ll end up running mates anyway to unify the Democratic party members and supporters in our country as a way to fortify a Democratic presidency – I will vote democratic this election. It is time for a change. And even though I actually like McCain – I do not see him being what we need as a nation right now. That’s my extremely liberal views talking though.
Let’s just hope that whomever the next president is, they are more honorable, positively effectual and credible than the one we have now.

It drives me insane to hear people say he doesn’t have a stance. They are talking out of their asses because they don’t like him.
Voting for Hilary just because she is a woman is no better than voting for Bush because he is a republican and you are too. (Not that you are, I’m talking in a general sense.) Qualifications be darned.
I liked McCain when he was a little more moderate. Now I think he’s too old and his opinion is too easily swayed. I don’t know if it’s the age that did that or if he was always that way, but he lost my respect when he became a Bush Croney. Something I believe he did only to keep himself in the spotlight.
I like the haiku, and I agree Obama has a stance.
I disagree as to who to vote for, but you already know that! ;)
As for the voting your sex thing…
I feel somewhat betrayed by women I know, because we have sat together over the years and complained about capable, experienced women being passed over for younger, less experienced men.
I find Hillary to be more experienced, and more capable than Obama, which is why I will be voting for her.
I guess I have trouble understanding why women who can’t articulate a reason for voting for him, are choosing a less experienced candidate over my girl.
However, I will support either one of them.
I am nervous that Obama’s liberal leanings will look extreme compared to McCain, and I hope that it doesn’t risk the much needed change in leadership.
At least we know that we will both be backing the candidate, regardless of wins the nomination.
See you soon!!
I wish that I could order the “Combo Candidate:” Barak’s hope and charisma combined with Hillary’s practicality and experience.
That being said, I’ll be happy with either one.
Hey M,
I really enjoy your writing. There’s much depth there. Good stuff. You’re rapidly becoming appointment reading for me.
I’d love to put you in my blogroll, but as a good Texas woman of breeding, I make it a point to always ask first.
Thanks for your support of my blog, too.
Best,
Laurie Kendrick
I’m voting for McCain. I don’t think he is being swayed because he is getting older. I think he is trying to bring people together and please both sides. He is never one to vote the party line but votes case by case. I like him.
As for Obama I think he has a stance. But he does not have a lot of experience. And I don’t like it when a politician makes such crazy promises that no one could keep. It seems unrealistic. It is good to be positive, but you must also be realistic.
But I agree with you in that we need to support who ever it is that becomes president. I can’t stand the president bashing that occurs in this country. It is a job I would NEVER want and it deserves respect.
I have friends who have said they will not vote for a rich white man anymore. That strikes me as very immature and not very intelligent.
“It’s time for a change” just doesn’t do it for me. I voted for Bill Clinton based on that way back in the day. ;-)Now, I want to know exactly what it is a potential president intends to change. I want specifics. I haven’t heard anything from Obama that convinces me he’s ready for the job. Not voting for Mrs. Clinton either. :-)
I think this Democratic nomination is such an exciting thing for our country right now. Either way, we need change, and one of those two will bring it.
I have a problem with the fact that Obama’s voting history is slim. He just did not vote on too many ocassions where votes were needed, stances should have been taken. Although, I did understand his arguement when asked about that history. I voted for Hill in the primaries because of her long-standing history of supporting causes for women and children. However, I’d throw my vigourous support behind either candidate. I think it’s going to be Obama and I hope he has an uber-liberal agenda hiding under that cool, collected, exterior. We’ll see.
Exactly! Thank you!!
i have my opinion…and, it’s not based on gender…but to me, she’s my choice. i like the idea of bill being back in office…along with his wife! but…i have always had a little crush on him (something is very wrong with me;)
you have great kus!
xoxoxoxo
“Let’s just hope that whomever the next president is, they are more honorable, positively effectual and credible than the one we have now.”
Amen!!
Oooooh, this is gooooood. Juicy and lovely and eloquent, just like my boyfriend Obama.
A new blog, mama likee! Maybe I won’t go away after all….
omg! i love your blog and agree 100% ive followed obamas career for awhile and for the first time in years i feel hope.i think hes just the man to do the job.hugs! kathi
I will try not to upset you, Maria, cause you know having happily voted for George Four times (2 as governor), I still loves the man. I don’t like McCain, which is why I’ll be voting for Ron Paul…who is my idealistic choice. I would NEVER vote based on color or gender. Hillary has too many skeletons (and 38 unexplained dead bodies) & Obama has too little experience for me.
I like Obama (Well he was my second choice after Edwards, but we know how that played out..)
And Natalie feels the same as I do about McCain. Used to be cool, but now he seems way nutty.. (“we’ll stay in Iraq for a 100 years if we have to!” From a fucking War hero/POW! And not stepping up against torture! Did he lose his mind???) And suddenly he went from pro choice to pro life? Come on, who changes their mind on something that big? *deep breath* Okay, I’ll stop ranting now..
I’m voting for Hillary, because she’s the candidate that speaks to ME. But, I respect your opinion, and love to read what you think (even though we don’t always agree) :)
Barack O’Boyfriend (as iambossy calls him!) has my support . . . but as you said, it’s all about people knowing what they are talking about that matters. I think unfortunately many people run their mouths as though they know what they’re talking about . . . assuming no one else has done their homework either.
I say support whomever you want, and know why. Then don’t criticize unless you’re sure you have a clue!
Hillary has also stolen several Obama campaign slogans.

@natalie – To me, he’s too wishy washy. He seems to want to please everyone and willing to sway his opinions to do it.
“I guess I have trouble understanding why women who can’t articulate a reason for voting for him, are choosing a less experienced candidate over my girl.”
I have trouble with anyone who can’t come up with a decent reason for voting for a certain candidate voting over another, period. :)
I don’t *dislike* Hilary and many of the proposed solutions to issues that matter to me are something I approve of. I would have no real qualms about voting for her.
@mama zen – *lol* In a perfect world, I guess. :)
@Kathryn – I do think Obama lacks the experience of the other candidates. But does that mean he would be less effective? I don’t really think so. It’s really not a one man job, no matter who holds the title.
I’m not too much of a Bush basher and I completely respect the position that he is in. But, I do not approve of the way that he has handled his job, so I will speak negatively of him if I feel his actions warrant it.
It’s just like a priest who molests a child, a police officer who beats a suspect, a celebrity who gets a DUI, a judge who takes bribes or a waiter who pisses in the tea – if you have a job that affects the public, in whatever way, you should not be immune to bashing.
If you do a bad job, I really don’t care about the pressure or the level of position or whatever else – I will say you’re doing badly if you are.
@groovy mom – By ‘a change’ I really mean a shift in the party holding the presidency. Shit goes wrong if one party is in the white house for too long, regardless of the other sections of government. That’s not very scientific but it’s a historical fact. *Lol*
And those people are idiots. I would’ve voted for John Edwards in a heartbeat.
@april – Thank you. :)
@maggie – Yes you will – but at least I know now that you’ll return! *lmao*
